goodbye yellow brick road
May. 22nd, 2020 09:22 pm[it's been a while since the diamonds have been to earth. after adopting spinel and leaving steven to do his... steven-y thing in the aftermath, they've been on homeworld dealing with the rapid changing of their society falling to pieces.
in a good way, of course.
blue diamond discovered her new power first. her tears evaporated into her happy little clouds one day when she was entertaining spinel, and it was huge news amongst the little group. yellow was next, with white diamond predictably taking the longest to discover she could channel the thoughts of other gems. she'd offered the opportunity to all three of her comrades, though none of them were too keen to try it. after some awkward glances shared amongst each other, spinel went first. then blue, then yellow. it opened up a whole new world, honestly, and talking to herself through white is what gave her the idea to visit earth alone.
the crystal gems, despite their corrupted members being systematically uncorrupted and returned to reality, have still suffered untold losses. yellow didn't actually go into the temple (aside from not being able to fit, it was very clear that the diamonds weren't welcome, to which they didn't argue outwardly) but she fought the war. she knows that they kept the shards she didn't steal herself for her projects. she knows even then that there are thousands of forced fusions buried on earth. she takes the responsibility to fix the damage she'd done, the mutilations she'd inflicted on the gems. so far she's able to rebuild them and they reform mostly mentally together and only needing a little help from yellow herself-- the ones on earth... might be another story.
she has to know. she has to get a start on the cluster. this is a preliminary check before she gets to work on her millennia long task.
clouds part as the huge yellow arm ship enters the atmosphere, taking a landing spot near the temple. it's no trouble to leave the ship hovering above the water as yellow herself exits, looking to at least inform the crystal gems of her intentions out of fairness.]
